R-407C is a zeotropic HFC blend of R-134a (52%), R-125 (25%), and R-32 (23%). Classified A1 — non-toxic and non-flammable — with zero ODP and a GWP of 1774, it is a widely adopted non-ozone-depleting replacement for R-22 in industrial refrigeration, commercial AC, and heat pump applications.
R-407C is used in industrial air conditioning for the processing industry, commercial and residential heat pumps, commercial refrigeration (cold rooms, display units, ice makers, refrigerated warehouses, rail coaches, ice skating rinks), industrial refrigeration and chillers, and domestic freezers.
R-407C is not a direct drop-in replacement for R-22 but is widely used as an R-22 alternative in new equipment and retrofit applications. It requires POE lubricant rather than the mineral or alkylbenzene oils used with R-22. System compatibility and manufacturer specifications must be verified before use.
R-407C is a zeotropic blend. If charged from the gas phase, the blend components fractionate — lighter components boil off first, altering the refrigerant composition in the cylinder and the system. Always charge from the liquid phase. Do not vapour charge out of a cylinder unless the entire cylinder is being charged into the system.
R-407C requires Polyolester (POE) lubricant. When retrofitting R-22 systems, mineral oil must be flushed and replaced with POE before introducing R-407C.

Responsible Recovery and Disposal of R-407C
R-407C carries a GWP of 1774 and must never be vented to atmosphere. As a zeotropic blend, vented or partially recovered R-407C also loses blend integrity — meaning recovered gas may not be rechargeable without reprocessing. We recommend using certified refrigerant recovery equipment to reclaim R-407C from systems before servicing or decommissioning. Recovered refrigerant should be returned to an authorised reclaimer or collected through our cylinder return programme.
